Introduction from Board Meeting

Amy has been an integral member of the CUSD family since her first days working for the District. She began at the start of the 2014-15 school year as a paraeducator substitute and was quickly hired as a Paraeducator due to her outstanding work ethic, connection with students and staff and passion for everything she does. She excelled at her work and soon began working with CSEA to ensure representation of members.

As you know, being an exceptional employee is just the beginning for being selected as a Staff Member of the Year. What distinguished Amy is also her commitment to the city of Claremont. Amy was on the Claremont Little League Board for 10 years and served her last 4 years as President. She then served on the Little League District 20 Board as an Assistant District Administrator and currently still serve there. She was also on the City of Claremont Sports Committee as the Co-Chair. She served on the CEF Board as President Elect, President and currently serves as and Past President. She served for many years, including a stint as President for the Oakmont Outdoor School PFA and also served for a number of years on School Site Council. She later served as secretary for the CPFA.

Amy is currently the President of the CSEA, Chapter #200 and is dedicated to members, ensuring the best working conditions for them while understanding and also putting student’s needs paramount in every decision.

Her colleagues discuss her passion for Claremont, especially youth. She is a tireless volunteer and always put the needs of others before her own. They discuss her true compassion and her desire to make each student’s experience the best. In her role in CSEA, she has extended that compassion to advocacy for members. She is a level headed negotiator who understands the “big picture” and seeks solutions for the best of the entire organization. She collaborates exceptionally well and works diligently to ensure the best outcomes.

It is with great pleasure I present to you, the Board of Education, Dr. Elsasser and the staff and the community, the 2020-2021 Claremont Unified School District’s Classified Staff Member of the Year – Amy Weiler.
